DUNEDIN VISOR CLUB

(The birth of a legend)

One fine Sunday, four young scallywags went on a trip from Dunedin to Oamaru, known in these parts for its lack of rain.  Upon their arrival they discovered that, apart from frolicking on a beat up old 3 ft mini ramp (with a 4 ft extension)  there really wasn't much else to do in Oamaru.

That was however until they discovered the indoor market in Oamaru's Victorian district.  Imagine their delight when they chanced upon a box of green treasure, VISORS! the kind poker players wear, but not just any visors, OH NO! Portia Visors.

They each bought one for 50c from an old man who wore a hat with lots of badges on it and voila!  The Dunedin Visor Club was born.

The first public airing of the visors was later that day at the ramp where  the skaters quietly admired the stylish quartet.  The four then wore them all the way home.  Jason found it was a big aid in helping him see the road on the homeward bound journey, as the sun was bright and he had left his sunglasses at home.  It was also discovered that reading was also easier when a visor was worn, as without one, the glare from the sun reflecting off the glossy pages of House and Garden Magazine was dazzling to the eager readers.

From then on the Club has never looked back, with new members queing up to join and many outings planned there is no reason to think that there won't from now until forever be a Dunedin Visor Club.
